| A BRIEF HISTORY | ||
|
I moved to Wilmington in 2001 with my wife and three children from Boston Massachusetts. Over the last few years we have loved living here and feel there is a place here for everyone. The people are friendly, the weather is excellent! and above all, life is slower and much more enjoyable. This point of land (Cape Fear) which is in the south east corner of North Carolina is the furthest north you can go and still be in a tropical planting zone. So, yes we have palm trees and numerous other tropical plants which stay green year round. Purpose of this web site: I am a real estate agent with the #1 agency in southeast North Carolina, Intracoastal Realty. I developed this web site as an aid for people coming to the area and to provide helpful information to visitors and locals alike. The information I include here is what I feel is the most helpful and relevant information about this area. I welcome all comments or questions, you can e-mail me at: jeffchase@intracoastalrealty.com
My Background: I graduated in 1980 from the University of Connecticut with a degree in urban economics and a minor in business. During most of the 80's I worked in the real estate business in and around Hartford, Connecticut. I first worked as an agent selling both commercial and residential properties. I then worked for 5 years in a small investment and development company. As director of acquisitions I was responsible for the purchase and sale of over 30 million dollars worth of investment property. By the end of 1989 the portfolio contained over 500,000 square feet of office/retail space as well as over 1,000 apartments. In 1989 I moved to Boston and opened an art gallery called Chase Gallery. Throughout my life art has played an important role, so I seized the opportunity to do something I loved. I still own and operate the art gallery in Boston, however, in wanting a more relaxed lifestyle and a better environment for my children, I moved to Wilmington in 2001. In the time that I have spent here I have learned to love what Wilmington has to offer. The recreational opportunities are fabulous and the social life is vibrant and exciting. I volunteer time at the Cameron Museum of Art, I have learned to surf and spend time playing tennis and occasionally playing golf at one of the great courses we are blessed to be surrounded by. Most of my free time is spent on the water, both around Wrightsville beach and Masonboro Island. My three children (ages 16, 13 and 13) have all learned to surf, fish, water ski, snorkel and each have found the sports offered by local clubs to be outstanding. In the years I have spent here, I have been fortunate to have some time to get to know the community and the various housing and investment opportunities that exist. I really enjoy the variety of housing, from beach bungalows to 100 year old mansions and everything in-between. The most important thing I have learned about Wilmington is how varied the neighborhoods are, each with unique characteristics, personalities and amenities. My experience and knowledge base as well as years of dealing with all types of personalities is a true asset to buyers and sellers of real estate. |
